NEW RULES 2024

On 1st January 2024, World Netball (formerly known as International Netball Federation (INF)) made some changes to  the netball rules that take effect from 2024 onwards. 

Some notable changes include but are not limited to:

  • Tactical team changes allowed after goal scored including a new hand signal for umpires
  • Removal of 'Toss ups'
  • Removal of 'Cautions' in Game Management
  • Changes to the Short pass rule
  • New hand signal for Playing the ball  
  • Stronger emphasis on player safety, good sportsmanship and use of game management. 

NEW RULES UPSKILL SESSIONS

Cambridge Netball have run three new rule sessions pre-season free of charge.

Rule Update Session 4 - Specialist

Who should attend? Zone Theory, Zone Award, NZ Theory or higher umpires. But all umpires should attend Sessions 1, 2, or 3 firstly. 

Date: Monday 15th April,

Time: 6pm - 8.30pm

Where: CNC courts & pavillion,

Yoyo testing, new rules update and clarifications, including understanding and applying Game Management. 

Suitable for Zone Theory or higher umpires. If you have your Centre Award and are interested in understanding Game Management more, please get in touch for more information.

Below is a pdf document of the entire new 2024 World Netball Rule book and a summary of the main rule changes. Please note, there are multiple minor rule changes within the rule book including (but not limited to) use of terminology by umpires e.g. 'Causing contact',  'Reposession'.
